Applications for the Andrews Labor Government’s $10 million West Gate Neighbourhood Fund have now opened and community and not-for profit groups with exciting and innovative ideas are encouraged to apply.
The West Gate Neighbourhood Fund will support communities by providing not-for profit and community organisations in Hobsons Bay and Maribyrnong local council areas with the opportunity to apply for funding for projects which will help connect people and improve neighbourhoods.
Grants of up to $100,000 will be available for community groups and organisations.
Partnership projects above $100,000 will also be considered, with co-funded initiatives encouraged.
The grants program will have three categories for funding:
- One-off projects that bring communities together and improve wellbeing
- Temporary installations or new events
- Improvements to community, sporting and recreation facilities and the local environment.
The program will prioritise those who are most affected by the construction of the West Gate Tunnel Project.
The West Gate Tunnel Project will end the rat-running through the inner west, taking more than 9000 trucks off residential streets and allowing the Labor Government to deliver 24/7 truck bans on Francis Street, Buckley Street, Moore Street, Somerville Road, Hudsons Road and Blackshaws Road.
The Project will also deliver more than five MCGs of new open space, providing new open space, quieter parks and sports grounds with new noise walls and 14 kilometres of new and upgraded bike paths.
