Recently I ran a Williamstown Parliament Prize Competition, where young people in Williamstown’s schools could submit a video of what they would say in Parliament if they had the chance. I saw this as a great opportunity to listen to the voices of young people, and the issues that mean the most to them.
I was blown away by the amazing range of issues that our kids are passionate about, from climate change to mental health and so much more. Well done to everyone who submitted, I was really impressed by every single entry and it was great to hear such diversity of interest amongst our young people. I wanted to show you the entries that I received, you can find these uploaded below.
Each student who submitted their piece received a book voucher to either the Sun Bookshop or Book and Paper. I am so happy to support local during these tough times.
Finally, I wanted to congratulate each of the participants for their submissions, I was so pleased with the effort and passion that went into these entries. I also want to share a huge thank you to all the parents, teachers and school staff that supported our kids not only for this competition but also during the extended periods of remote learning in 2020 and 2021.
