The Allan Labor Government is making heading to and from school easier and safer for hundreds of students and their families in Yarraville.
New pedestrian technology will be installed at the traffic lights on Wembley Avenue in Yarraville, which will give students, teachers, and community members a head start in crossing the road before cars are able to turn.
This new technology will ensure pedestrians are more visible to turning drivers, making walking to and from Wembley Primary School safer for the school community.
New signage will also be installed at the intersection to alert drivers to the pedestrian crossing.
Works to upgrade the crossing are expected to be completed by the end of June.
The Labor Government is continuing to implement increased safety measures around schools, and under Victoria’s Road Safety Strategy 2021 – 2030 we’re working across education, infrastructure, policy and technology to end the heartbreak and make our roads safer, including for our most vulnerable road users.
