Pedestrians and cyclists in Altona and Altona Meadows will be safer as this year’s State Budget will deliver a new shared user path over Laverton Creek in Queen Street Altona.
After sustained advocacy and widespread community support, the petition for a Queen Street pedestrian and cycling bridge across Laverton Creek has achieved success.
Under the 2024/2025 Victorian Budget, $12 million will help Victorians walk and cycle safely. This includes funding for a new bike and pedestrian path on Queen Street Altona.
The Queen Street Bridge, a vital thoroughfare connecting Altona Meadows to Altona and beyond, has long been recognized as needing a safe pathway for cyclists and pedestrians.
