An inaugural executive principal has been appointed to lead Footscray Learning Precinct’s secondary school in Melbourne’s inner west.
Member for Footscray Katie Hall and Member for Williamstown Melissa Horne today announced Frank Vetere will be the principal of the new secondary school.
The precinct will link education facilities from early childhood through to university, including a new secondary school with three campuses – two junior and one senior – with a campus in Seddon to open in 2021.
Mr Vetere is currently the principal of Point Cook P-9 College and has been in the role for four years after acting in the position since the school’s opening in 2010.
He also comes to the new post as a graduate of the Department of Education’s Principal Leadership Program.
The Andrews Labor Government has already invested more than $50 million to build the new precinct, giving local kids the state of the art classrooms and facilities they need to achieve their best.
This includes planning for the entire precinct, land and construction of the new Seddon Junior Secondary Campus, the first stage of works at Gilmore College for Girls and the first stage of works at Footscray City Primary School, including a new integrated early learning centre to be built adjacent to the school.
The Government has also committed a further $20.2 million for a new three-storey building at Gilmore College for Girls and a major upgrade to Footscray City College, including science, technology, engineering and maths facilities.
