Fans and members of the Altona Magic Soccer Club and Altona East Phoenix Soccer Club can enjoy better access to Paisley Park thanks to the completion of car park upgrades at the ground, backed by the Victorian Government.
Member for Williamstown Melissa Horne today joined representatives from Hobsons Bay City Council and local clubs to officially open the new parking area made possible by a $500,000 investment from the Victorian Government.
Football is one of Victoria’s fastest growing sports and Paisley Park is at the heart of the football action with Altona Magic and Altona East Phoenix Soccer clubs sporting over 550 members.
The upgraded car park includes dedicated accessible car spaces and is a game changer, providing easy access for more club members and fans of all abilities to access the ground for training and games. Safety and lighting improvements also give park users greater opportunity to use the grassroots venue for local events including community gatherings and celebrations.
The investment in Paisley Park is part of more than $1.9 billion the Victorian Government has chipped into community sport and active recreation infrastructure over the past decade.
The Victorian Budget 2024/25 is also providing more than $23 million to continue delivery of community sport and active recreation infrastructure, and programs to increase participation opportunities and improve accessibility.
Melissa Horne MP acknowledged Hobsons Bay City Council for its financial contribution of more than $250,000 towards the car park upgrades and commitment to delivering the project. For more information about grant opportunities available through the Victorian Government visit sport.vic.gov.au.
