Member for Williamstown, Melissa Horne attended a session at Scienceworks with Minister for Children Lizzie Blandthorn to celebrate Little Kids Week.
Dedicated to children aged 5 and under, Little Kids Week contains a week full of activities dedicated towards combining STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) and play through innovative and creative sessions.
Facilitated by Museums Victoria and first opened in 1992, Scienceworks aims to create engaging learning spaces for people of all ages.
The Ministers also toured the Ground Up exhibition space for children under 5 and visited the Kinder Clubhouse.
The Ground Up: Building Big Ideas, Together exhibition is intended for babies to five-year-olds where curiosity is rewarded with surprising and intriguing sights, sounds and touch sensations.
The Kinder Clubhouse is a mini-kinder experience set up in partnership with Department of Education’s Best Start, Best Life program.
The Department of Education currently supports Museums Victoria through the Best Start, Best Life, early childhood reforms, providing $100,000 for marketing and engagement.
And through the Early Childhood Professional Development Program, contributing $520,000 over 3 financial years, ending in 2026.
This funding has contributed to Scienceworks’ Little Kids Week and will aid in creating four Little Kids Days throughout the year, providing more activities for developing children.
