Member for Williamstown, Melissa Horne celebrated a significant number of volunteers from across the Williamstown electorate at a special afternoon tea on October 10.
After inviting nominations from local organisations, it was apparent there were dozens of people across the community devoting their time to supporting local causes, advancing the rights of others, or simply helping their local club or community group to thrive.
The volunteers come from a wide range of community groups, including the Hobsons Bay Men’s Shed, the Hobsons Bay Wetlands Centre, the Williamstown Historical Society, the Freedom Sports Foundation, Thrive in 2025, ParKanDo, ParkinSong, Patch in the Park, Altona Community Garden and the Zonta Club of Melbourne’s West. Their tireless work enriches lives and strengthens inclusion across our community.
There were also volunteers from the Williamstown Literary Festival, Williamstown Little Theatre, and the Williamstown Community and Education Centre, each playing a vital role in fostering local creativity, learning and connection.
Lifesaving, sporting and youth clubs were exceptionally well represented with the Altona and Williamstown Life Saving Clubs, 2nd Newport Scouts and the Pines Scout Camp, Altona North Cricket Club, Altona Roosters Rugby League Club, Newport Digman Cricket, Newport Power Netball, Westgate Basketball, Williamstown Cricket and Junior Football Clubs, Willi Tigers Netball, Yarraville Glory, and the Spotswood Football, Cricket and Sports Clubs.
